Description
The Slow at Fog is 17 x 24 cm soft cover of 32 page book by R. Deskins, P. Hyde and C. Struble
This book is not intended to be an exhaustive history but rather a sufficient telling to give the reader an understanding of the nature of the operation of trolleybuses in Brisbane. Many photographs have been included which will bring back memories to those who used the service. The system was beset with adversity almost from its inception and never rose to any great prominence in the overall transport scene in the city. It was always the poor relation of the highly popular and successful tramway system.
Brisbane was the second last city in Australia to introduce trolleybuses. Other systems were already operating in Adelaide, Hobart, Perth and Sydney. Launceston followed Brisbane on 21/12/1951.
A great many individuals have contributed to this book. The authors would especially like to thank Chris Baker, Ken Smith, Robert Thomson, John Hudson, Bill Blannin and Ian Lynas. Recollections of an oral history presentation by the late George Baker provided the basis on which much of the story rests as most of the official records are no longer in existence
